Manpreet singh Overcoming your fears..!!

Usually most of the speech therapists only focus on some techniques like Bouncing,Prolongation etc. and that also in clinic environment. They make the stammerers to practice in their own comfort zones. But the real challange is to extend our comfort zone and face the new challanges which were just like a night mare for a stammerer. So today Dr. Sachin took us to a Hospital today and we were made to come out of our comfort zone and face our night mares. At first ,we were made to talk to some pati… Continue

Manpreet singh Acceptance

Since when I was a child ,I never realized that this stammering will cause me so much trouble in my future. Like when I went for any vivas ,I used to prepare for it very hard and my frnds just didnt bother about vivas. They use to say that we can just say what ever we want .Its just a kindaa interview. So just go there and say something and you'll get good marks. At that time I realized that I was different from them.I can't just keep on saying anything ,bcoz it was difficult for me even to speak… Continue

Juno Monstrose Could be helpful

I've been taking speech therapy all my life. I've only been alive for 17 years, but I think I've had plenty of experience in therapy. But it was only a few days ago that I found out a pretty important piece of information. Stuttering does not have a fool proof way to control it. The way I stutter is not the way you stutter. Some methods we both use to control it may overlap, but they can be really different. The therapists I had so far never even mentioned that to me. Sometimes I got really dis… Continue

Juno Monstrose Hello

Hi, I just signed up! I actually got this link from a speech therapist. It's the first time I heard something like this existed. Actually, the only other stutterers I have ever met were my brother, father, and grandmother. No one else. So it's nice to be able to get to know people who know what I'm going through. I've stuttered all my life. I've been going to speech therapy off and on since I was three. When I was little I used to mix up syllables of words, for example, I would say "bur-ham-ger… Continue

danyC Hello

I have acquired stuttering and speech blocking a few years ago after being treated for auditory hallucinations with a neuroplectic medication. Interestingly the same med is said to relieve stuttering in long time sufferers but I am fairly certain it produced the problem with me. So, stuttering seems to be here to stay for me and I am here on this site to figure out ways to deal with it. Dany Continue

Doris Anne Beaulieu Ramifications of Homeschooling

Hello, My name is Doris Anne Beaulieu. I have a website-Life’s Ultimate Test dot com-on which you can learn more about my mission to change the face of home schooling. I attended a parochial school as a child in the 1950's. In this Catholic school I was sheltered from the realities of the world around me-from swearing, from public displays of affection, from slang. These are often some of the same things that modern home schooling parents aim to protect their children from. A superior court judg… Continue

rick lynn Possible Cause and Cure for Stuttering

Cause of Stuttering and possible cure Many persons believe stuttering is caused by a neurological problem. It is not. Stuttering usually begins in early childhood, and it effects can last for years. For me it began when I was about four years old. My move from Atlanta may have caused internalized stress. This internalized stress greatly affected my delicate muscles to create high muscle tension. This high muscle tension constricted air flow from my diaphragm when speaking. This constriction of… Continue
